Rant below. Safety image and text for your time.

I hate this fucking place. We have a goddamn neighborhood magazine for “Individuals Living The Kettle Valley Lifestyle.” Nobody talks to each other, everybody’s judging, everything’s too expensive, and everyone you meet seems like a fucking mannequin. What happened to personality? What happened to community? What happened to not being a bitch and not asking for more neighbourhood patrols so the cops can drive by real slow while I’m working on my car and give me the eye? The world’s too fucking serious, and people are too busy dicking about to pull their heads out of their asses. I’ll be damned if they never talk to me in person, yet have the nerve to indirectly tell me what I cannot do, despite what the bylaws say.

/endrant.

This applies to me too but the houses on my street are a bit more far apart than your typical neighborhood. My next door neighbor, he’s never ever there. It’s his vacation house. Other neighbor was actually good and but he just moved :(

I don’t even know any of my other neighbors. This one family on my street, they live in a huge house and have 5 kids. I happened to teach one of their kids coincidentally one summer a few years ago and offered to his mom “ if you ever need someone to look after him when you’re not around let me know.” She gave me a dirty look.and didn’t respond.

I know many rich people. Honestly few of them are impressive. Money doesn’t buy class or even just proper courtesy. It costs nothing to wave to a neighbor.

Some people need to get off their high horses and stop criticizing everything and everyone cause they think everything they do is perfect and they’re always right...

The only reason why cops death stare at people working on their own cars is because apparently “working on cars doesn’t look good to your fellow neighbors”. When I was working at the bike shop in my town, lots of upper class people who passed by the shop would glare at us because it was not “asthetically pleasing” to have such a buisiness in this town.

While they stare at you, smile, wave and enjoy working on your stuff. What can they do?

For many people, life is about one thing and one thing only: control. Pissing off a stranger is the highlight of their week, nay, perhaps their life.

Windsor, ON. I like Windsor. I like the people, I like the attitude, I like the atmosphere.

But I thought they were supposed to be nice up there!

And isn’t that a Detroit suburb? So car culture would be strong, right?

I live in an upper middle class subdivison, and we get a lot of this bullshit. Daily neighborhood email threads about whether or not we should put up speed limit signs, people looking to vuy funiture off of each other, the one guy who thinks he’s funny, the bitchy Trump guy who feels he is superior to everyone else. I don’t know many of my neighbors; hell, I barely even know their names much less know them. Then you have the guy in the X5 who speeds through the neighborhood, the people who let their children and dog roam throughout the neighborhood, the cocky guy always chiming into email threads with “reply all” legal advice. I see many of the same issues in my ‘hood as your ‘hood. I’m also a runner, and our subdivison is also in the country. On my run today, I stopped at the top of a hill to look out towards the farmlands and small houses below underneath the cloudy sky. Absolutely alone.

People are just people, and their attitudes or personal problems or how they act is insignificant. Enjoy the Earth, because the fact is there is more to it than people.

Yup. Like saluting an officer in the Army. All they can do is salute back.

The cops are waiting for you to give them the finger. Surprise them.

They call the Okanagan “Canada’s SoCal.” Probably for good reason.

And sort-of. It’s right across the river, and it’s wicked cool. More imports than Detroit, and cheap cars are everywhere. Plus everyone knows a duded as “the guy with the Fiero” or “the guy with the satin black cammed big block Nova” or whatever. Really cool and friendly place. I highly recommend checking both it and Detroit out.

Sure it’s unpleasant, but it could be much much worse. I know the type of neighbors you’re talking about and in the grand scheme of things, they’re so minutely insignificant that even complaining about how fake they are is granting them too much attention.

It’s not the fakery that gets me, it’s how controlling they try to be, and they lord their sad little lives over everyone else.

That may be so but my point still stands. Don’t let them affect your life in the slightest bit.

Embrace the hate. I was jamming to some Blood for Blood while cooking tonight. When people look down on you, just give them the finger and carry on. Rage on.

Exactly. The thing that pisses these people off the most is when you go out of your way to be pleasant (even if it’s killing you inside, it’s killing them more painfully) and wave and say hi all the time.
